The Medieval Old Town of Rhodes is one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval cities and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enclosed within massive stone walls and towers, it’s a living museum where Byzantine, Gothic, and Ottoman influences blend seamlessly with modern life.

Built by the Knights of St. John in the 14th century, the town was both a fortress and a flourishing trade hub. Visitors can stroll along the Street of the Knights, lined with grand inns that once housed crusader knights from across Europe, and explore landmarks such as the Palace of the Grand Master, the Hospital of the Knights, and the Clock Tower overlooking the rooftops.

Within the labyrinth of cobbled alleys lie hidden courtyards, Byzantine churches, mosques, artisan shops, and tavernas, giving the town an atmosphere that feels frozen in time yet vibrantly alive. At night, warm lights illuminate the stone walls and arches, creating a magical setting for dining and evening walks.

Today, the Old Town remains a cultural and historical heart of Rhodes — a place where history, architecture, and daily life coexist in perfect harmony.

Chief Officer Ashley said it has a massive moat surrounding, amazing gyros and shops for greek/turkish linens
