For a Viking Experience – Ægir BrewPub is the brew-pub & restaurant of the Norwegian micro-brewery Ægir Bryggeri, based in Flåm.
It was founded in 2007. The pub/restaurant draws heavy inspiration from Norse mythology and Viking heritage — the exterior resembles a traditional stave church, while inside features driftwood walls, dragon-head carvings and a 9-metre-high fireplace/chimney to give a warm “Viking longhouse” atmosphere.
Ægir doesn’t only brew beer — they also produce aquavit, gin, mead and hard seltzer; but craft beer remains central. Their beers have won multiple national and international awards.
Their menu pairs Ægir beer with Nordic-inspired dishes, sometimes incorporating beer into the recipes. One of their signature offerings is the “Ægir Viking Plank” — a multi-course meal paired with different house beers.
The vibe: cozy and rustic — think long wooden tables, open fire, Viking-era ambiance — ideal for travellers, beer lovers, and guests seeking something beyond a standard pub
Sunday – Saturday: 12:00 – 22:00
Service is provided year-round; in summer they also offer lunch à la carte, while dinner à la carte is standard in the evenings all year
Chief Officer Mike recommended this spot as an “old school viking traditional bar”
