Alaçatı (often spelled Alacati) is a seaside town on the Çeşme peninsula in İzmir Province on Turkey’s west coast, overlooking the Aegean Sea. It’s about 70 km (45 miles) west of İzmir city and very close to the coast, so beaches are just minutes away, famous for its well-preserved stone houses, cobblestone streets and colourful bougainvillea, a picturesque blend of Greek and Ottoman influences. The heart of town feels like a living museum you can wander through at your own pace.

World-Class Windsurfing & Kitesurfing
Thanks to steady and strong winds most of the year, Alaçatı Bay is internationally recognized for windsurfing and kitesurfing, ideal for beginners and experienced riders alike. Many schools and rentals are available right on the beaches.

Markets & Shopping
Alaçatı Market: A vibrant weekly market (especially lively on Saturdays) with fresh produce, handmade jams, spices, textiles and souvenirs.  Boutiques & Galleries: Narrow streets are lined with unique shops selling clothes, ceramics, antiques and local art.

Cultural & Historic Spots
Alaçatı Windmills: Iconic historic windmills are a classic photo stop and offer panoramic views of the town.
Marketplace Mosque: Originally built as a church, it’s a fascinating example of the town’s layered history.
Old Town Streets: Wandering the narrow cobblestone lanes is one of the best experiences in Alaçatı.

Best Time to Visit
Spring (April–June) & Early Autumn (September–October): Great weather and slightly fewer crowds.
Summer (July–August): Peak season with full nightlife, beach clubs and events, but it can feel crowded.

It’s ideal for anyone who loves culture, active seaside holidays, good food, and that quintessential Mediterranean atmosphere.
