Alanya Castle is a dramatic medieval fortress perched high on a rocky peninsula overlooking the Mediterranean Sea in southern Turkey. Originally built in the 13th century during the Seljuk period under Sultan Alaaddin Keykubat I, the castle stretches along massive stone walls that wrap around the hilltop for several kilometers. Inside the fortifications are ruins of cisterns, churches, mosques, and old houses, reflecting centuries of Byzantine, Seljuk, and Ottoman history. Today, Alanya Castle is a major landmark known for its panoramic sea views, well-preserved walls, and its role as a symbol of Alanya’s strategic and cultural past.
