The USS Midway once held the distinction of being the longest-serving aircraft carrier of the 20th century. Commissioned on September 10, 1945, just after World War II, it served through the Korean War, Vietnam War, Cold War, and notably as the flagship during Operation Desert Storm. It was decommissioned on April 11, 1992, and later moved to San Diego to open as a museum in June 2004.
Spread across nearly 10 acres with over 30 restored aircraft, the museum includes four major zones: the Hangar Deck, Flight Deck, Below Decks, and Aircraft Gallery. Highlights include interactive flight simulators, immersive theater experiences like the “Battle of Midway” film, guided and self-guided tours, and areas where you can explore the bridge, engine room, bunks, and more
